The unique test procedure
As the product is a world exclusive, a test concept for U-TECH FLEX had to be developed first of all with the relevant testing institutes. Certification validity depends on the number of standards that the solution is to be tested in accordance with, and the certification process can take several years. U TECH FLEX was tested for every conceivable failure scenario and under the harshest conditions: the highest voltage peaks, maximum radio interference and extreme temperatures. And all this during ongoing operation and without compromising safety functionality.
The testing marathon
Testing covered whether the system is unaffected by radio waves or electromagnetic fields in the surrounding area, does not interfere with other systems and complies with all the limit values. Additionally, testing examined whether the system works faultlessly in normal operation – and whether it responds as expected in deliberately triggered failure scenarios. It was also checked whether all the modules are protected against the ingress of foreign bodies and water, that the system remains stable for several hours even when exposed to vibrations and shocks, and that contact protection is installed for hazardous live components. Even if a safety-related component fails, such failure must not cause a fire to break out or an explosion to occur. This was also tested comprehensively.
