Frequently Asked Questions

The system requires the FLEX Control unit, which is mounted on the control cabinet. Depending on the machine, one or more antennas are installed around or in front of the hazardous area. The antenna type is selected based on the machine’s specific requirements.

The FLEX Monitor module continuously supervises the field generated by the antennas. Each employee wears one or two FLEX PSM transponders, depending on the requirements. After each shift, they are recharged in the FLEX Charge station.

The FLEX Check test device is typically installed in the changing room. Each employee must check the functionality and battery status of their FLEX PSM before starting a shift.

Yes, up to 30 meters.

Almost any machine with a clearly defined hazardous area can be secured using the FLEX system.

The presence field allows real-time verification of the proper functioning of the two PSM transponders worn by the employee during operation. It can also be used to prevent machine start-up unless an authorized employee is present with one or two active PSMs (depending on the setup). This prevents unauthorized operation.

Yes, FLEX PSMs are universally compatible with any FLEX system installation.

The system operates with either 12 V or 24 V DC, offering a wide range of installation options.

Yes. FLEX Check performs a comprehensive daily test of the FLEX PSM, including checks that cannot be performed during regular operation. It also confirms to the employee that their personal protective equipment is fully functional before each shift.

The type-examination certificate is valid across the EU. Additional certifications under the CB Scheme allow product approval in over 50 countries. More on CB certification – TÜV SÜD

Yes. Adjacent hazardous zones can be secured with a single FLEX system. Multiple systems can also be installed close to each other, as long as their electromagnetic fields do not overlap.

Yes. Standard configurations exist for several applications. For example, a ready-to-use setup is available for baling presses. However, due to the wide range of optional features, most installations are tailored to the individual application.

For certain machines, two FLEX PSMs must be worn (one on each wrist). This ensures that both hands are individually protected and provides redundancy. The system links both PSMs so that the failure of one triggers an emergency stop.

Depending on the antenna type, the system can achieve up to a 12-meter radius. This allows presence detection not only directly at the machine but also throughout the employee’s entire working area.
